Keep the identity of the publishing editor with the story record

Choose records that explain the live version and latest change. Reporter drafts, approvals in messages and lead-story decisions stored separately can obscure which text was approved. Post-publication corrections may also require searching for earlier versions. We will link draft, review and publication steps to identifiable people. Editing a story's content and changing its homepage placement can be distinct operations.

What divides the newsroom record

  • Draft files become confused with approved text versions.
  • Lead-story changes stay separate from publication records.

Publication links to choose

  • Editorial decisions can link to the relevant story version.
  • Publication and placement changes can record their responsible people separately.

From reporter draft to category and homepage placement

Let us work through how a story arrives from the field and passes publication checks. Headlines, copy and images may be ready at different times, so approval boundaries need defining. The sequence can be adapted to your newsroom's responsibilities.

  1. 01

    Prepare the draft

Reporter entry of copy, headline, category and images as a draft can be scoped. Missing-field notifications to editors and scheduled-publication requests will be defined separately.

  2. 02

    Complete editorial review

Editing, returning and approving can have distinct states. Records can identify who approved which version and who has publishing authority.

  3. 03

    Choose placement and publication time

Managing editors can be given lead-story, secondary headline and category placement controls. Breaking-news flags and scheduled publication will follow your own publishing rules.

Start with editorial workflow, then choose reader and advertising modules

Let us select the initial portal around daily news production. Editorial approval and paid subscriptions have different account and connection needs. Together, we will identify first-release fields and the records supporting later expansion.

  1. Initial publishing scope

    Drafts and placement
Reporter drafts, editorial approval, categories, lead stories and publication records can form the starting scope. Publisher-information updates and earlier versions can be included alongside this flow.
  2. Additions as required

    Readers and advertising
Membership, paid subscriptions, ad-free reading and campaign dates can be selected separately. Discovery will determine necessary reader details and advertising-placement boundaries.
  3. Fields dependent on providers

    Payment and advertising connections
Technical conditions will be examined if selected payment or advertising providers offer access. Archive transfer also depends on the existing system's export access.

Compare checks for breaking news and scheduled features

Publication speed may vary, but recording which version was approved remains a shared need. Breaking news may involve frequent reporter-editor handovers; scheduled publication needs planned dates linked to later copy changes. We can treat both routes under one permissions structure with distinct status fields.

Approval point

Breaking-news workflow
The current version can be published after editorial checks.
Scheduled feature
Approval of completed copy can link to scheduled publication.

Placement

Breaking-news workflow
Breaking-news flags and lead-story choices can require an authorised role.
Scheduled feature
Category placement and lead-story duration can be assessed separately.

Revisions

Breaking-news workflow
Live-story changes can enter the record history.
Scheduled feature
Changes to scheduled copy can require fresh review.

Define decision areas for reporters, editors and managing editors

Let us plan person-specific permissions for newsroom duties. Anyone entering news need not have removal rights or access to subscription data. The software we will build can separate viewing, editing, approval and removal permissions.

News team

Reporter draft entry and editorial checking and publication decisions can be defined. Managing-editor placement rights can sit alongside or separately from copy editing.

Reader and commercial records

Subscriber details, payment states and advertising campaigns can have different access. Commercial-team access does not automatically include source notes.

Publisher responsibilities

KVKK, Turkey's personal data protection law, will be considered for personal data in reader, subscriber and news records; your publisher is the data controller. Press requirements, publisher details, replies, corrections and removal-request records will be assessed with your authorised adviser.

Retain earlier news versions alongside correction requests and editorial decisions

Link corrections to the reasons for changing a story. Silently replacing copy makes it harder to explain when an earlier version was live. We will scope earlier versions, correction requests and editorial decisions together. Republishing and removal can be separate states. Legal assessment belongs to your publisher's authorised adviser; the project defines who records the decision against which story. We will also discuss whether a lead story's placement changes with the correction.

Changes that obscure history

  • Overwriting earlier copy loses its publication timing.
  • Correction decisions and lead-story changes are treated as one action.

A trail to design for corrections

  • Requests and approval decisions can link to story versions.
  • Copy revisions, removal and placement can have separate records.

Transfer the news archive with an inventory of existing URLs

Plan archive migration around addresses as well as text files. Stories, authors, categories and images may export in different formats. We will examine current-system access and anonymised sample exports to determine fields that can transfer.

  1. 01

    List the addresses

Existing story and category URLs can be inventoried. Matching new addresses and planning permanent redirects can be selected as archive checks.

  2. 02

    Verify a sample story

Compare copy, author, dates and image links in a trial transfer. Missing media and unmatched categories can be marked separately for your review.

  3. 03

    Prepare the publishing transition

Define handover of open drafts and scheduled stories. If payments or advertising connections are required, provider conditions will be examined separately before choosing their relationship to the initial scope.

Explore the scope of news pages and newsroom applications

Consider both reader-facing pages and the workspace your team uses. The service and article below explain how to discuss these needs together. Editorial approvals, archive fields and reader-service details will emerge from your own publishing examples.

Start with a draft, correction example and archive list

Prepare anonymised drafts, editorial checklists and existing URL examples. Explain how post-publication changes are approved today. List reader memberships and advertising expectations separately from the core news workflow so we can choose the first release together.

  • Identify publication and removal permissions.
  • Share archive export formats and image structure.
  • List subscription and advertising providers for technical assessment.

The proposal will reflect editorial roles, archive transfer, reader modules and connection boundaries. Subscription use, support scope and additional development will be defined in writing.

How we work

We do not sell an off-the-shelf package: we design the software around your workflow, build the first version in short steps and keep running it after launch.

  1. 01

    Discovery

We listen to how your business works, your team and the tools you use today.

  2. 02

    Scope and quote

Modules, priorities and price are set out in a written quote.

  3. 03

    Development

We show working versions at short intervals and move on with your feedback.

  4. 04

    Setup and migration

We move your existing records across and help your team get started.

  5. 05

    Support

We run the software on a subscription and keep it up to date and secure.

Frequently asked questions

Can our existing archive be migrated?

Archive migration can be included in the scope: articles, sections, writers and images. What matters most is preserving old URLs, so an inventory is drawn up and redirects are set up before the switch. How much can be moved depends on what your current system can export.

Who is responsible for published content?

You, as the publisher, are responsible for all published content and for your legal obligations as a publisher, such as notifications under the Turkish Press Law, the responsible editor, correction and reply requests and compliance with takedown orders. We build and operate the software; it can provide tools such as an imprint page, editorial logs and recorded unpublishing. We do not give legal advice.

Can reporters and editors work with different permissions?

Yes. Roles are defined in the scope, for example reporters file drafts only, editors approve and publish, and the editor-in-chief manages the front page. Every step is recorded with who did it and when.

Can advertising and subscriptions be managed together?

Yes. Ad slots and subscriptions can be designed to run from the same panel, and hiding ads from subscribers can be set up as a simple setting. Connections to payment and ad platforms are scoped per project.

What about search engines?

A clean URL structure, sitemaps, structured data and page performance are considered from the start. We make no promises about rankings or traffic; those depend on your content, your competition and the search engines' own decisions.

What if an approved story changes before its scheduled publication?

A rule can require the changed version to return for editorial review. Scheduled time and approval of the new version can be linked through separate fields to determine which copy is published.

How would an old story's missing archive image be tracked?

Unmatched media can be listed separately during transfer checks. Your publishing team decides replacement images or field corrections; a missing file will not be treated as a completed transfer.

How is the price set?

After a discovery meeting we prepare a written quote covering the scope, the modules and the setup work. The software is provided on a monthly or annual subscription.

Do we receive the source code?

In our standard model the software is provided on a subscription and the source code is not transferred. If you need a different model, it is agreed in a separate written contract.

Who is responsible for what is done with the software?

We build and operate the software. The business using it is responsible for how it is used, the data entered and the content published; the details are set out in the service agreement.
